Friar Jorge Luis Valdés Barragán, O.F.M.

Secretary

He holds a degree in philosophy and theology from the Universidad de San Buenaventura Bogotá and a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences. He has been a member of the Franciscan community of the Holy Faith Province of Colombia since 1990 and was ordained a priest in December 1999. He has performed different services in the community; he is currently Vice Rector for the Evangelization of Cultures at the Universidad San Buenaventura Cali sectional.

The Secretariat is the University unit in charge of registering and promulgating the provisions and administrative acts emanating from the Academic Council and endorsing certificates, resolutions, diplomas and other documents issued by the Rector’s Office, the Department of Registration and Control and other University Units that require official endorsement for their documents.

The Secretariat designs, directs and coordinates the policies and procedures that frame the execution of a series of complementary support activities, which basically fall on the human, administrative, financial and academic resources of the Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali, ensuring their adequate and effective execution.

Among the values on which the Secretariat bases its work at the service of the University Community are: equity, truthfulness, transparency, respect, efficiency, effectiveness, quality, through them we seek:

  • Promote respect for institutional autonomy, academic freedom and freedom of expression, equality, equity, democracy and humanism.
  • Promote and strengthen the University identity.
  • To project the institutional image of quality at the state, national and international levels.

General Objective

Register and promulgate the dispositions and administrative acts emanating from the Academic Council, attesting with his signature the agreements and the Minutes of the Academic Council, keeping the originals in his files and issuing the corresponding copies for the use of the community.

 

Specific objectives

  • To be the academic support for the integral development of the institution.
  • Coordinate the activities and processes for the follow-up, updating and integration of the acts corresponding to graduation ceremonies.
  • Ensure the socialization of the regulations issued by the Board of Directors to the university community.
  • Establish mechanisms to optimize communication channels, especially those related to the establishment of criteria that affect student processes.
  • Promote innovative academic-administrative activities that contribute to the optimal provision of student services.
  • Formalize meetings, agendas and decisions of the Board of Directors, allowing for follow-up and control.
