The Environmental Management System – EMS of the Universidad de San Buenaventura Seccional Cali, is the set of elements defined by the University to establish the intentions and commitments of the Bonaventurian community in terms of environmental management, being the tool through which the Environmental Policy and Objectives are defined, as well as the activities aimed at protecting the environment and preventing pollution. To this end, the following programs have been established and initiatives.

Drinking water treatment plant – Universidad San Buenaventura Cali

USB Cali, as a higher education institution located in commune 22 of the city of Cali, has a water treatment plant for human consumption (PTAP), which has a concession from the Pance river, taking the water and subjecting it to different pre-filters and filters, including chlorine dosage, thus allowing the supply of quality drinking water throughout the university campus, which complies with the physicochemical and microbiological parameters, according to regulations.

Solar Farm

In order to continue strengthening the policy of sustainability and commitment to the environment. This project allows us to be the first and only University with a solar farm to modernize the lighting system; 25% of the total consumption of the campus will be through this farm.
Its area occupied by panels is 6,504 square meters. This farm allows mitigation of CO2 carbon dioxide emissions: 249 tons per year, which is equivalent to the capture of 41,350 trees.
Solar panels transform sunlight into electrical energy. They produce direct current (DC) electricity. Inverters transform electricity from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) as used in residential, industrial, educational institutions, etc.

Solid Waste

It is important to know the role that each one of us plays in caring for the environment, even in the smallest activities. This is why we want to show you the correct separation of solid waste, in order to avoid its negative impacts on the soil, air, water bodies and others.

Responsible Use of Water Program – PURA

The purpose of this program will be to establish and develop solutions to excessive consumption and waste of water resources, guaranteeing their availability and adequate use, seeking efficient use and water savings in the USB.

Program for the Rational Use of Energy – PURE

The purpose of this program is to establish and develop solutions to excessive energy consumption and waste, guaranteeing its availability, adequate use and seeking a responsible, rational and efficient use of energy at the USB. In order to continue strengthening the policy of sustainability and commitment to the environment.
